Congressman Scott Tipton has been a proponent of trails and new trail development and particularly the Gunnison to Crested Butte Trail. He’ll be at the Aspinal Wilson Center at the southeast corner of the WSCU campus from 6-7pm tonight.

It’s critical that our elected officials hear from citizens and if trails are a priority for you, including the Gunnison to Crested Butte Trail, try to make it to this meeting tonight and let the Congressman know.

The Gunnison – Crested Butte valley continues to fall behind as Moab, Steamboat Springs, Grand Junction, the Eagle – Vail Valley, Durango and other regional locations have put a priority on new trail development and are putting new trails on the ground as this is written.

Way back when, both Gunnison Trails and the Crested Butte Mountain Bike Association (CBMBA) submitted, and since have been championing, proposals to the US Forest Service and BLM for new trails and trail systems. Gunnison Trails proposals were first submitted to land managers in 2006 and CBMBA has had been working on their proposals for even longer.

Trails are valuable assets to out citizens and our valley. If you agree, let your voice be heard. Thanks,
dave
