Come celebrate the start of winter! Join the Crested Butte Nordic Center and the Gunnison Public Lands Initiative (GPLI) on a free nordic ski out the Slate River Valley.

The west slope of the Slate River Valley is proposed for Special Management Area and Wilderness protection. Come out with us to see exactly what makes this area so special – majestic views, wildlife, skiing, and more!

We’re fortunate to have two of the Crested Butte Nordic Ski Team coaches – Austin Ross and Molly Susla – guiding us on this adventure.

We will meet at the 4-Way Stop in Crested Butte at 12:30 pm on December 7 and carpool to the trailhead. Expect to be out all afternoon in cold winter conditions for about 3.5 km of skiing. Bring plenty of warm layers, water, snacks, sunscreen, and of course, your ski gear!
