Join us this coming Tuesday, 7/30, from 4-8pm as we begin building the final section of South Rim trail. A big thanks to CB Mountain Runners and Island Acres Resort Motelfor sponsoring this week’s trail work event! This final leg of South Rim will take trail users to the top of Signal Mesa and connect with the next section of Northwoods, which we plan to break ground on later this fall.
Directions – we’ll be meeting at the top of Signal Mesa where BLM 3211D intersects the Gunnison Spur road. Take highway 50 east for 3.75 miles and turn LEFT onto BLM 3211D (there will be a bright yellow TRAIL WORK sign on the left side of the highway). The turn is just across from AM Salvage Barnwood, the timber-framing business. After turning off Highway 50, take your first left through a green BLM gate (make sure to close the gate behind you), and drive another 4 miles up BLM 3211D. Good clearance and 4WD is highly recommended. We have several volunteers who have space in their vehicles, and there’s always room in a GT truck, so please email [email protected] to carpool.

We’ll work from 4-7pm before kicking back and enjoying some grillables and beverages with one of the best views in Gunni. Remember all the usual essentials – good boots, gloves, plenty of water and a rain coat. If you ride to the workday (highly recommended), remember lights for the descent back to town. We hope to see you next week or at one of our upcoming workdays this fall:

  • Tuesday, July 30 – 4-8pm
  • Tuesday, August 13 – 4-8pm
  • Tuesday, August 27 – 4-8pm
  • Saturday, September 14 – 9am-2pm BIG FALL WORKDAY
