Join us next Tuesday, 9/3, from 4-8pm as we begin construction on a NEW section of Northwoods (the red line in the map below). That’s right, Northwoods is getting a 1.5 mile extension, complete with a new stretch of trail through some lovely dark timber. A HUGE thank you to Treads ‘N’ Threads and Resource Engineering Group for sponsoring this week’s trail work event. We’ll be staging out of the same location as the past few weeks, parking at the top of 3211c road.

Directions – we’ll be meeting at the top of Signal Mesa where BLM 3211c intersects the Gunnison Spur Rd. 3108. Take highway 50 east for 3.75 miles and turn LEFT onto BLM 3211c (there will be a bright yellow TRAIL WORK sign on the left side of the highway). The turn is just across from AM Salvage Barnwood, the timber-framing business. After turning off Highway 50, take your first left through a green BLM gate (make sure to close the gate behind you), and drive another 4 miles up BLM 3211c. Good clearance and 4WD is highly recommended. We have several volunteers who have space in their vehicles, and there’s always room in a GT truck, so please email [email protected] to carpool.We’ll work from 4-7pm before kicking back and enjoying some grillables and beverages high atop Signal Mesa. Remember all the usual essentials – good boots, gloves, plenty of water and a rain coat. If you ride to the workday (highly recommended), remember lights for the descent back to town. We hope to see you next week or at our big fall workday on Saturday, Sept. 14.
