Gunnison Trails, in partnership with Gunnison Valley Orthopedics, is proud to bring you the 16th Original Growler MTB Races on May 25-26, 2024 in Gunnison, CO. The Growler remains the primary fundraiser for Gunnison Trails, a 501c3 non-profit organization dedicated to maintaining and expanding the singletrack experience in the Gunnison Valley. Whether you’re racing for the podium or just riding for fun, you’re guaranteed an amazing day on the bike experiencing all that Hartman Rocks has to offer. And best of all, 100% of your proceeds benefit Gunnison Trails and trail building and maintenance here in the Gunnison Valley.
THREE RACE COURSES TO CHOOSE FROM
The CLASSIC is a 32 mile race chock full of some of the best singletrack in the country.
The PUP 20 is a 20 mile race that samples the front-country trails at Hartman Rocks.
The BIG BAD 40 is a 40 mile course where riders race the classic Growler course with the addition of the backcountry Aberdeen loop. Race course direction for 2024 will be COUNTER-CLOCKWISE.
25% DISCOUNT FOR MIDDLE/HIGH SCHOOL RACERS
We’re committed to fostering the next generation of riders and trail advocates. For 2024, we’re extending a 25% discount to all middle and high school students racing the Pup 20 and Classic 32.
FOR THE KIDS
We are excited to partner with CB Devo to bring you the immensely popular Kid’s Growler. This FREE event for ages 3-9+ takes place on a spectator friendly, multi-lap course at the Hartman Rocks base area on Saturday, May 25.

2023 TRAIL WORK HIGHLIGHTS MADE POSSIBLE BY YOUR REGISTRATION
YOUR RACE FEE DIRECTLY SUPPORTS TRAIL BUILDING AND MAINTENANCE. 2023 TRAIL WORK HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE:
  • completing over 4,000 hours of trail maintenance, construction and stewardship work across the Gunnison Valley by our Professional Trail Crew
  • building an additional 2 miles of the South Rim trail in Signal Peak
  • adopting section 22.1 of the Colorado Trail. Gunnison Trails now partners with the Colorado Trail Foundation to maintain two sections of this iconic trail
  • grooming over 14 miles of firm, flowy, snow-packed trail at Hartman Rocks for fat biking during the winter months
  • partnering with the BLM Gunnison Field Office, the USFS Gunnison National Forest,  Western Colorado University, the City of Gunnison and Gunnison County to maintain our incredible network of singletrack
