The melt is ON people! As of March 21, mud season trail and road closures are now in effect at Hartman Rocks. All roads and trails are closed to motorized and mechanized use as the snow melts, the mud dries and conditions improve. Trails and roads are still open to foot traffic, but please limit your impacts and get out there in the morning hours when conditions are still frozen. Unlike the closures in Signal Peak to protect wintering wildlife and the County wide closures from 3/15 – 5/15 to protect the Gunnison Sage grouse, this is a conditions based closure. Hartman Rocks will officially open for all uses as soon as things are dry. Here’s hoping for warm, windy weather to speed the melt along!
