Next weeks trail work is sponsored by Rock ‘N’ Roll Sports, keeping your wheels rolling since 1992! We are so pumped to finally get construction underway on the next phase of the South Rim trail in Signal Peak – 2.4 miles of trail that will connect South Rim/Sunny D to the top of Signal Mesa (see map above). We want to thank our partners at the BLM for all the efforts getting clearance work done on this stretch of trail – they have a million and one other priorities right now and they still made time for this project.

We hope you can join us this coming Thursday, 9/7, from 3-7pm to kick off this monstrous build.  That’s right, Thursday, NOT Tuesday – gotta change things up every now and then. We’ll be meeting on BLM 3211D (see directions below) starting at 3pm. If you arrive later, we’ll have a well flagged route from the parking lot up to South Rim and to the start of the trail work. Sign the waiver, grab a Rogue hoe, rake or shovel and follow the flags until you find us. We’ll work until 7pm before kicking back, firing up the GT grill and enjoying some much needed libations. As always, wear sturdy shoes and bring warm layers, a rain coat and plenty of water.

Directions – take highway 50 east for 3.75 miles and turn LEFT onto BLM 3211D (there will be a bright yellow TRAIL WORK sign on the left side of the highway). The turn is just across from AM Salvage Barnwood, the timber-framing business. After turning off Highway 50, take a left through a green BLM gate (make sure to close the gate behind you), and drive another 2 miles up BLM 3211d. 4WD is recommended, although any vehicle with AWD and decent clearance should be fine.  We encourage you to carpool or ride to the workday to keep traffic and impacts to a minimum. If you ride, take South Rim trail almost to the intersection with Sunny D and look for the pile of tools and flags heading uphill.
